Karnik & Cenicola Sweep NECC Weekly Honors

MEN'S BASKETBALL
PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Southern Vermont College senior forward Joe Karnik (Castleton, N.Y.) was a scoring force for the Mountaineers, leading his team to a victory in the season opener. He tallied an amazing 36 points and 13 boards to lead Southern Vermont to an 87-76 victory over Stevenson. Karnik shot 64% (15-for-22) from the field and 75% (6-for-8) from the free-throw line.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Fellow Mountaineer, Southern Vermont College freshman guard Derrick Cenicola (Hamilton, N.Y.) averaged 11 points and nine rebounds assisting the Mountaineers to a 1-0 opening record. Cenicola shot 50% (4-for-8) from the floor and 75% (3-for-4) from behind the arc.
