PITTSFIELD, MA- This summer Southern Vermont College Head Baseball Coach, Dave Gage, will have the opportunity to coach in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. Gage was announced as the assistant coach of the Pittsfield Suns on June 1st.
Gage who will be in his first season as Head Coach for Southern Vermont starting in the fall will be coaching alongside long time independent ball coach Jamie Keefe, this summer. Keefe the reigning Can-Am league Manager of the Year will be the Manager for the Suns in their inaugural season.
“This is a great opportunity for myself to learn from a great manager, but even more so it is great for our program,” said Gage. “My hope is that in the next few years we can get a few of our guys into this league or the NYCBL, NECBL, or the Perfect Game League.”
The Futures League has nine teams in only its second year of existence. All of the teams’ rosters must have half of its players from a New England school or be from New England originally.
“I’m looking forward to picking up a few things that I can bring back to our program, rather it be from Jamie or from the guys I get to coach,” Gage ended.
