| William “Bill” Epstein
was the driving force in the development of Southern Vermont
College Athletics serving as the Director of Athletics from
1979-1994 and Director of Athletics Emeritus until 2004. During his
tenure, Epstein served as a faculty member in the Business
Management Program and was instrumental in the growth of SVC
Athletics with the $1.2 million dollar Health and Recreation Center
(Mountaineer Athletic Center) and the Bill Epstein Athletic Field,
which at the time included: a soccer field, a baseball diamond, and
a softball diamond. Epstein coached baseball from 1979-1993 and he
also filled in when needed coaching men's soccer, women's soccer
and women’s basketball. The entire SVC community was
deeply saddened by his death in 2004. |
