Michael Donoghue graduated from St. Joseph College in 1971 and played for the men’s basketball team from 1969-1971. Donoghue, inducted in 2000, is one of Southern Vermont College’s Intercollegiate Sports Pioneers. He also served as Chairman of the SVC Alumni Association from 1997-2000, served three terms on the SVC Board of Trustees, and received the prestigious Mountaineer Athletics Award in 1998. Donoghue made a name for himself as an award winning journalist working for the Burlington Free Press. He was inducted in 2000 into the New England Press Association Hall of Fame and has worked for St. Michael’s College as a Journalism Professor for several years.
