FULL BIO:

Tim Penrod has been the head coach of the Mountaineer men's soccer program since June 2007.  Since taking over, he has established a consistency that has allowed to the program to become a strong contender within the New England Collegiate Conference.

The 2009 campaign saw the Mountaineers enjoy their most successful season since 1993. The team finished with an overall record of 11-8-1, its first winning season in 16 years. With a record of 3-3-1 in the NECC, the program was seeded fourth in the conference tournament, it's first post-season appearance since 2002. After defeating fifth seeded Mitchell College, the program fell to eventual conference champions Daniel Webster College in the semi-finals.  Individually, freshman Adrian Alexis was named 1st Team All-Conference and NECC Rookie of the Year.

In 2008, Penrod had his first true recruiting class, and the impact was noticeable almost immediately. The team finished 2-13-1, losing four games by one goal. The program moved into the New England Collegiate Conference, transitioning from being an Independent. Competition within the conference was very tight all season, with just two games being decided by more than two goals conference wide. Then sophomore goalkeeper Aaron Eschler was awarded 1st Team All-conference and NECC Goalkeeper of the Year honors. The team was also awarded the NECC Sportsmanship Award.

The first season under Penrod was largely a learning experience for the program, both for players and coach. Despite finishing 0-15, the team made several steps towards showing true competitiveness. Then freshman goalkeeper Elias Skiff led the nation in saves with 16.73 per game.

Since coming to SVC, Penrod has had seven players selected to All-NECC teams, two players receive NECC Player of the Year awards, one ECAC All-Star, and two players finish in the top five statistically in the country.

Prior to coming to SVC, Coach Penrod had a successful playing career at Juniata College (Pa.).  A four-year letter winner at Juniata, Penrod was the starting goalkeeper his freshman and junior years.  During his junior season, he was named to the Penn State-Altoona All-Tournament Team and helped his team to a second place finish.  In addition to playing soccer, Penrod earned his Bachelors of Science in Social Studies Education.

In addition to serving as the men's coach, Penrod is also the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Coordinator.  The SAAC is a committee of student-athletes that work together to involve the schools athletic teams in a variety of community service activities as well as act as a liaison between each team and the school administration.

Coach Penrod is an active member in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and currently holds his Regional and National Coaching Diplomas.

From 2005-09 Coach Penrod worked at Camp Canadensis, located in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.  He spent the previous three summers as the Director of Soccer Operations, responsible for creating and running a summer-long comprehensive soccer program for children ages seven to 16.
