2010-2011 NECC Men’s Basketball Championship Pairings Announced

ATTLEBORO, Mass.--Becker College has claimed the top seed for the 2010-2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men’s Basketball Championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites the evening of Tuesday, February 22.  The Hawks (22-3 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming NECC tournament after posting a perfect 14-0 conference record. 

Elms College (18-7 overall) claimed the #2 seed going 11-3 in conference play.  Both Becker and Elms have earned quarterfinal-round byes in the six-team tournament field.

Southern Vermont College (15-10 overall, 9-5 NECC) has earned the #3 seed, Newbury College (10-14, 8-6) will be the #4 seed, Wheelock College (10-15, 6-8) is the #5 seed and Daniel Webster College (11-13, 5-9) has claimed the #6 seed.

In quarterfinal-round action on Tuesday, February 22, #3 Southern Vermont will host #6 Daniel Webster in Bennington, Vt. at 7:00 p.m., while #4 Newbury will host #5 Wheelock on the campus of Hellenic College in Brookline, Mass. at 8:00 p.m.

The semifinal and final rounds will be hosted by top-seeded Becker on Friday, February 25 and Saturday, February 26, respectively, in Leicester, Mass.  In Friday’s semifinals, Becker will face the winner of the Newbury-Wheelock quarterfinal at 6:00 p.m., while Elms will meet the winner of the Southern Vermont-Daniel Webster quarterfinal at 8:00 p.m.

The semifinal winners will square off for the NECC Championship Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Winner of #3/#6 vs. #2 Elms (18-7, 11-3), 8:00 p.m.
